Adam S. Faye MD MS, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Population Health, and Director of Clinical Research at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine IBD Center. Dr. Faye completed his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Harvard University and medical school degree at Weill Cornell Medical College, receiving a number of awards for his academic achievements. He completed his internal medicine training, chief year, and gastroenterology fellowship training at Columbia University Medical Center. During his gastroenterology fellowship, Dr. Faye also completed a master’s degree in biostatistics at the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health, and pursued an additional year of advanced inflammatory bowel disease training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Faye’s research interest is focused at the intersection of geriatrics and gastroenterology. His specific focus area centers around understanding how biological measures such as frailty and sarcopenia can be used to improve both risk stratification tools and clinical outcomes among older adults with inflammatory bowel disease. He has received funding from the NIH/NIA including a GEMSSTAR and Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award, American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Career Development Award, and two multicenter Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Awards to advance this work. Dr. Faye also holds leadership positions as the co-Chair of the NIA funded Clin-STAR Frailty & Inflammation Groups, Geriatrics Section Editor for Current Treatment Options in Gastroenterology, Co-Chair for an ACG Monograph on the care for older adults, is a member of IBD-REACH, the AGA Nominating Committee, ACG Research and Educational Committees, and is an AGA Clinical Practice Institute Councilor. Dr. Faye was also selected for the 2022 Advances in IBD Ambassador Program, 2022 ACG Early Career Leaders Program, 2023 NIA Butler-Williams Scholar Program, and 2024 ACG Institute Clinical Research Leadership Program. He has published extensively in this area (including the top Gut article for 2023), reviews for many of the top GI journals, is an invited NIH study section member, and given his expertise has been invited to speak both nationally and internationally on his research.
